Saints are Important for Society

People generally think of saints very much in terms of church as if they only belong there and should be left there. There is the occasional exception when the world embraces a particular saint.  A good example from the Middle Ages is St. Francis of Assisi whose great love for all God’s creation continues to inspire people of today. In modern times, there is Mother Teresa (St. Teresa of Kolkata) whose work among the poorest of the poor, has been admired and supported by people of all religions as well as those of no religion.
