A crowd of more than 30 000 people in the village of Tshitanini sang and danced to the Lord in a peaceful spirit of praise and thanks – giving for the martyr, Blessed Tshimangadzo Benedict Daswa ,whose beatification was proclaimed by the representative of Pope Francis,the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints,Cardinal Angelo Amato on Sunday 13 September 2015, a special day to be remembered in the history of the Catholic Church in Southern Africa.
It was also announced that the feast day of Blessed Daswa will be celebrated on the 1 February every year.

The tombstone of the Blessed martyr was unveiled the day before in the small Catholic Church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption at Nweli Village not far from Tshitanini. Blessed Benedict Daswa’s mortal remains are now here in this church at Nweli which he helped to build.
The Catholic youth of Tzaneen Diocese did the opening ceremonies for the beatification with traditional dances and singning.
